It is clear that one Apple supplier will be insufficient in completing orders for both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is why DigiTimes Asia reports that Genius Electronic Optical has been added to the supply chain alongside Largan Precision. It is unclear how many orders both manufacturers will receive, but their primary goal will be to fulfill Apple’s tetraprism periscope zoom lens shipments.
For those wondering, the technology giant is estimated to have requested 100 million A18 chipset shipments for the iPhone 16 series this year. However, the exact breakdown of the silicon powering the ‘Pro’ and non-Pro versions is not mentioned, so even if we assume that 50 percent of those SoCs will be found in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, it will be a tough road for the two lens suppliers.
